Dear Drivers. From Parents.

Dear Drivers,

Parents if your child isn’t already then more in likely tomorrow they start back to school and for me, there’s nothing I look forward to more than sending my kids off to school for 6 hours (😂 who am I kidding it’s more like 8 hours). The next best thing is seeing them coming off the bus safely after school.  As a driver I know you want to get to your destination fast and getting stuck behind a bus can slow you down, but with the start of school we are asking that for the next 180 days that you adjust your schedule and be extra carefull. You can reschedule your appointments we can’t replace our children. Stop when you see buses flashing their lights and when they put out their STOP sign, slow down when you see kids standing waiting at bus stops, never speed pass a bus while they are stopped. We want you to make it your work on time, we don’t want you to be late but we don’t want you risking our children’s lives just to arrive on time. Buses run on a schedule, they only come during the week, they do not stop to cause you annoyance they do it to pick up students. There are laws, if broken you will be fined and could possibly lose your license but worse you could hit a child, is speeding pass a stopped bus worth that risk?

Students look both ways, obey all bus rules and never assume a car will stop. Bus drivers, the unsung heroes of each school year, I have 5 kids and noise gives me headache at times you have a bus load, 👊 you are truly my hero! Always remember keep your eyes on our kids and the road, no texting. Drive safe and don’t be afraid to keep the kids in line.

Drivers slow down especially in neighborhoods, speed limits still exist during the school year and with kids out walking to school and back, you speeding by and not moving over for them is dangerous. Passing buses on a 2 lane road give parents and grandparents nightmares, plan accordingly, leave earlier or realize you may just be a tad late. Last thing you want is me at the end of my yard with a bucket of golf balls ready to throw them at your car as a reminder to slow down 😆😈

Let’s have a safe school year, and everyone arrive at their destination on time and alive.

Quick and Easy at Home Starbuck’s Pink Drink

We live in a relatively  small city, compared to  where I grew up, and with that being said I grew up with Dunkin Donuts trying  Starbucks was definitely out of my comfort zone but boy after I tried their famous secret menu drink the Pink Drink I am so glad I did. Prior to trying the Pink Drink I had only been to Starbucks 4 other times and had only tried their Vanilla Bean Frappe. I began seeing this “pink drink” all over my Facebook newsfeed over and over everyday all day long, to the point where the Pink Drink was taking over all the political post. While in Target (ours has a Starbucks inside…Does yours?) I decide to give it a try. At first I stumbled all over trying to order it…I thought you just order it by the name “I will take a large Pink Drink, please” 1st off LARGE is not a size at Starbucks…Short, Tall, Grande, Venti, and Trenta  2ndly I needed to order the drink by asking for a Strawberry Acai Refresher with Coconut Milk instead water.

Pink Drink 8  Pink Drink 7Does that not look so delicious and scream summer !

Sharing is the hardest part. The tie for the hardest part when you are left with an empty cup is the sad feeling when you have an EMPTY CUP ;)! Now you can make your own at home! It is so tasty and to me taste even better. I have been using fresh strawberries and then eating them after the drink is gone. I found all the ingredients at Walmart.

Pink Drink 1

 1. Use a 1/2 pack of the Lipton Strawberry Acai Tea (I found it in the aisle as the coffee & tea is in. You can order it on Amazon by clicking on Lipton above)

2. Soy Delicious Coconut Milk Unsweetened (I found ours in the juice aisle where the dry and shelf milk is located) I like to put mine in the fridge before making my drinks will need 1/2 Cup

3. Ice Cold Water 1/2 Cup

4. Ice 1 Cup

5. Fresh Strawberries Slices 1/2 Cup

Whip Cream

In your tall cup add the Lipton tea mix and the water, stir until completely dissolved, then add the Coconut milk, ice and strawberries and stir. My kids like to top theirs off with whip cream! Any ENJOY!!!

Pink Drink 2 Pink Drink 5

In less than five minutes, $6  and about 45 calories each I was able to make 5 Pink Drinks at home. Since making them at home I’ve only gotten 2 at a Starbucks and that was while in a different city. You can play around with how much or little you want of the water and Coconut milk. You can buy freeze-dried strawberries and add them vs fresh strawberries.

Come back and let me know how you enjoy yours when you made it and did you use fresh or freeze-dried strawberries? Did you top yours with whip cream? My girls’ even like to add pink sprinkles on top of their whip cream!

Loving Our New Mermaid Blanket

I love using blankets year round, something about being curled up on my recliner with my Alexander Hamilton biography, root beer and my blankets is so relaxing. The softer and the more plush they are the better! Also is a an added bonus if it’s purple or has a design I love and one my girls don’t take lol they love to steal my blankets from me (blanket hoarders). I searched to find a Mermaid Blanket, I mean who wouldn’t want to be a mermaid, after searching for the right color, price and one that looked so soft with great reviews I picked this one from Amazon. Mermaid Blanket 5 I have Amazon Prime yet it said would take 4 days to arrive (does that happen to anyone else?) but surprisingly it arrived 1.5 days!!! BONUS! My daughters, Megan & Faith gathered around me as if a real mermaid was going to pop out of the box lol , when I opened the package I was so glad I picked this one and realized the picture didn’t do it justice. There was an envelope with a note and a mermaid necklace, how stinkin’ cute is that! Mermaid Blanket 6 Megan has the necklace laid out with her clothes that she has picked out to wear for her first day of school! Now of course my girls wanted to be official “Mermaid Blanket Testers” 😉 and how could I deny them of  that! Mermaid Blanket 3  Mermaid Blanket 15 They now love to come ask me if they can sleep in it! I don’t blame them, it is so soft, it is too heavy that you can’t use it during the summer and it keeps you warm at night even with two fans and the A/C going (ugh the NC heat can be a killer). I am 5’4 and there is plenty of move at the bottom if I was taller….I have seen where other people wrote that they were 5’7 and there was still room. Plenty of room to lay in and roll over whether you are lounge on the couch or in bed. Mermaid Blanket 8 The colors are so pretty, it is purple with accents of pink and white crocheted in . The quality is really good, lol with my two girls it would have to be to survive. It measures  71″x35″

Mermaid Blanket 11  <—Mermaid Tail in action

This Mermaid Blanket can be bought online at Amazon by clicking here or on the price which is $21.88  if you are an Amazon Prime member our shipping is free and should arrive in less than 3 days. I see they updated their shipping speed.

When yours arrive come back and let know how much you love yours as well and which color blanket you picked….they have: Black, Blue, Pink, Red, Grey, Rose Red, Dark Purple (mine), Flower Purple, and Mint Green (the next one I want to get).

*I did receive the blanket at a discount, no links are affiliate links. Views expressed are my own and no way swayed by any discount offered*

Weekender Handbag, Amber Train Case and Notebook in Dreamcatcher from Capri Designs

With the summer in full force, we are making it a goal to fit in as many springs trips, beach trips and even mini vacations as possible. Refusing to be the mom with five very unorganized and unappealing beach bags (or reusable grocery bags since let’s just admit it we all do it) I’m bringing my Weekender bag everywhere we go. Gentleman’s Box

Gentleman’s Box is the first subscription service to cater exclusively to the modern gentlemen. Each month they honor a gentlemen from the past or the present and fill their boxes with 4-5 items, included with your monthly subscription is a subscription to GQ Magazine sent directly to your home separately from the box.

The June 2016 Gentleman’s Box including the following items:

~Sock Fancy Socks ($12) – Sean has another pair of socks from Sock Fancy and wears them often to school and church. The quality and texture is superior to just about any brand out there and the price is great. He loves the color, plus he didn’t have any green socks so that was a bonus!

~ Something Strong Striped Tie ($30) – Sean absolutely loves to wear ties whether it be to school, church, dinner or just going out with friends. As with the socks, he didn’t have a green tie, so the color and the striped style was a nice bonus.

~ Harry’s Razor ($18) – This is the first the Gentleman’s Box included a razor in their boxes and wow they chose wisely with Harry’s. This is not your dollar store blade and razor, this razor has weight and a slick handle. Harry’s makes their own blades and razors as well as accessories on their website which allows for their low prices.

~ Woodchuck USA Wooden Tie Clip ($30) -Nothing looks more sharp on a nice looking tie than a fancy looking Tie Clip and Woodchuck USA has quality, real stainless steel and real wood face tie bars/clips. We have received products by Woodchuck USA before in previous months boxes and were really impressed, this month no different. He wore it yesterday and received 3 complements.

~ La Fresh Sunscreen Wipes ($1.66) – Here in North Carolina our temps already reaching the upper 90’s before the heat index. Sunscreen is a must, these wipes have SPF 30 and are guaranteed to protect you in the sun for hours. Sean used his wipes when he went to beach, he said they weren’t greasy and just as stated didn’t irritate his skin. Easy to apply.

What an stylish box for our Dapper Sean, this month’s box from Gentleman’s Box had a total of $97.66 which included the GQ magazine & the wipes that they didn’t include in their total.

Birchbox’s June Subscription Box

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links

Those that know me might be thinking “Heather you actually subscribe to a makeup subscription box?” I know right, me who is so tomboy does where makeup but it didn’t start until I had my two girls and someone sent me a referral link to try out Birchbox. I never knew what brands were the best, which products to use  on my hair and heck I didn’t even know most of these were even out there. But I can tell once I tried Dry Shampoo I fell in love, who knew! ;)! Now I look forward to receiving the box each month and have learned over the last year so much and have a bathroom shelf or three or four full of products Birchbox has sent that I have used and  loved.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that starts  out at $10 a month. If you choose to add additional samples or products to your monthly box or get the premium box then your price will be higher. Birchbox has been around since 2010, they are probably one of the most, if not the most well known and most popular beauty and subscription boxes out that.

Birchbox sends between 4-6 sample sizes (sometimes full sizes) each month. I have been with them for over a year and just love each month. I receive my box around the 10th of each month, one of the earliest boxes I receive. I love how each month their box designs are different and I even have a few favorites. I keep mine, my girls each have their own that they keep their shopkins in!

Each month you receive a card letting you know what is included and how much a full size cost. One way to buy a full size item for a discount or even free is buy reviewing your products you receive, buy from their online BirchBox Shop and referring your friends. You can save your points up and use them in conjunction with coupon codes to get huge discounts on amazing products.

I had so much going on I didn’t get a chance to take advantage of their upgrade boxes so this is their standard box. My June box included:

Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer: Full -size $21 (7ml/.24 fl oz) This is a creamy face moisturizer for dry, dull and stressed-out skin. It is packed with antioxidants and humectants to help with hydrating your skin. I love this because even though it is not winter I still have dry skin. Being in the EMS field I am constantly washing my hands so they are quick to become dry fast and especially not smooth  like they should be. The same with my face, I am always washing my face with harsh micro bacterial soaps and wipes and it will leave my face dry. That is where Air Repair comes in! This is already in my tote to come to work with me!

COOLA Mineral Face SPF 30 Unscented Matte Tint $36 Full-size (.17 fl oz/5ml) Is a Mineral-based TINTED moisturizer with SPF!!! Nongreasy formula dries down to a matte finish and the subtle beige tint evens out skin tone and masks flaws. I love how COOLA is going double duty with this product. Works best for light to medium complexions, which is me so yeah! Plus I love the brand COOLA and Birchbox has a special going now on their site:

Can’t get enough of COOLA®? We feel you. For a limited time, get a free COOLA® Tinted Mineral Liplux SPF 30 in Nude Beach with qualifying $40+ purchase of any full-size suncare product(s) from the Birchbox Shop. Use code: LIPLUX at checkout.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) Night Cap Overnight Perfector $28 Full-size (30ml/1floz) This is a overnight solution that softens, shins, helps hair become more manageable and last up to a week. Can be used on color treated hair which I love, since I am always dying my hair and need products that helps keep my hair staying healthy and strong and Living Proof does. Doesn’t feel greasy applying or when you wake up.

Whish Shave Crave with Vitamin K $24 Full-size (22ml/.75fl oz) This a blend of natural plant extracts plus Vitamin K minimizes spider veins, varicose veins and bruises over time all while being an ultra thick luxury shaving cream. Organic jojoba seed oil, green tea, and coconut oil penetrate skin to deeply moisturize and goes on feeling more like a lotion than a shaving cream. My take on it though IT IS PRICEY FOR A SHAVING CREAM! As much we shave during the summer (lol come on you know you shave less in the winter…I can’t be the only one) that is a hefty price tag you will be paying for a few bottles a year. OUCH!

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel – 3 Medium $24 Full-size–Now this is not yet available to the public until June 24th, but as a Birchbox subscriber we are getting a special sneak peek at a sample of their Brow Volumizer Gel. Now I will admit at first I thought it was for your lashes lol even put it on my lashes, then I realized it is for your BROWS! I am not one who does anything with my brows…they are just there doing fine all on their own! So this was all new to me…did I even need a Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel? To me I feel I look a little grizzly, making brows really stand out but that might be that I to them not being so light.

What did you guys think of the items in this month’s June Birchbox? After review each item that will give me a total of 50 points that I can combine with my others and use in the Birchbox Shop.
