Quick and Easy at Home Starbuck’s Pink Drink

We live in a relatively¬† small city, compared to¬† where I grew up, and with that being said I grew up¬†with Dunkin Donuts trying¬† Starbucks was definitely out of my comfort zone but boy after I tried their famous secret menu drink the Pink Drink I am so glad I did. Prior to trying the Pink Drink I had only been to Starbucks¬†4 other times and had only tried their Vanilla Bean Frappe. I began seeing this “pink drink” all over my Facebook newsfeed over and over¬†everyday all day long, to the point where the Pink Drink was taking over all the political¬†post. While in Target (ours has a Starbucks inside…Does yours?) I decide to give it a try. At first I stumbled all over trying to order it…I thought you just order it by the name “I will take a large Pink Drink, please” 1st off LARGE is not a size at Starbucks…Short, Tall, Grande, Venti, and Trenta¬† 2ndly I needed to order the drink by asking for a Strawberry¬†Acai Refresher with Coconut Milk instead water.

Pink Drink 8  Pink Drink 7Does that not look so delicious and scream summer !

Sharing is the hardest part. The tie for the hardest part when you are left with an empty cup is the sad feeling when you have an EMPTY CUP ;)! Now you can make your own at home! It is so tasty and to me taste even better. I have been using fresh strawberries and then eating them after the drink is gone. I found all the ingredients at Walmart.

Pink Drink 1

 1. Use a 1/2 pack of the Lipton Strawberry Acai Tea (I found it in the aisle as the coffee & tea is in. You can order it on Amazon by clicking on Lipton above)

2. Soy Delicious Coconut Milk Unsweetened (I found ours in the juice aisle where the dry and shelf milk is located) I like to put mine in the fridge before making my drinks will need 1/2 Cup

3. Ice Cold Water 1/2 Cup

4. Ice 1 Cup

5. Fresh Strawberries Slices 1/2 Cup

Whip Cream

In your tall cup add the Lipton tea mix and the water, stir until completely dissolved, then add the Coconut milk, ice and strawberries and stir. My kids like to top theirs off with whip cream! Any ENJOY!!!

Pink Drink 2 Pink Drink 5

In less than five minutes, $6 ¬†and about 45 calories each I was able to make 5 Pink Drinks at home. Since making them at home I’ve only gotten 2 at a Starbucks and that was while in a different city. You can play around with how much or little you want of the water and Coconut milk. You can buy freeze-dried strawberries and add them vs fresh strawberries.

Come back and let me know how you enjoy yours when you made it and did you use fresh or freeze-dried strawberries? Did you top yours with whip cream? My girls’ even like to add pink sprinkles on top of their whip cream!

Loving Our New Mermaid Blanket

¬†I love using blankets year round, something about being curled up on my recliner with my Alexander Hamilton biography, root beer and my blankets is so relaxing. The softer and the more plush they are the better! Also is a an added bonus if it’s purple or has a design I love and one my girls don’t take¬†lol they love to steal my blankets from me (blanket hoarders). I searched to find a Mermaid Blanket, I mean who wouldn’t want to be a mermaid, after searching for the right color, price and one that looked so soft with great reviews I picked this one from Amazon. Mermaid Blanket 5¬†I have Amazon Prime yet it said would take 4 days to arrive (does that happen to anyone else?) but surprisingly it arrived 1.5 days!!! BONUS!¬†My daughters, Megan & Faith¬†gathered¬†around me as if a real mermaid was going to pop out¬†of the box lol¬†, when I opened the package I was so glad I picked this one and realized the picture didn’t do it justice. There was an envelope with a note and a mermaid necklace, how stinkin’ cute is that! Mermaid Blanket 6¬†Megan has the necklace laid out with her clothes that she has picked out to wear for her first day of school! Now of course my girls wanted to be official “Mermaid Blanket Testers” ūüėČ and how could I deny them of¬† that! Mermaid Blanket 3¬† Mermaid Blanket 15¬†They now love to come ask me if they can sleep in it! I don’t blame them, it is so soft, it is too heavy that you can’t use it during the summer and it keeps you warm at night even with two fans and the A/C going (ugh the NC heat can be a killer). I am 5’4 and there is plenty of move at the bottom if I was taller….I have seen where other people wrote that they were 5’7 and there was still room. Plenty of room to¬†lay in and roll over whether you are lounge on the couch or in bed. Mermaid Blanket 8¬†The colors are so pretty, it is purple with accents of pink and white crocheted in . The quality is really good, lol with my two girls it would have to be to survive. It measures ¬†71″x35″

Mermaid Blanket 11¬† <—Mermaid Tail in action

This Mermaid Blanket can be bought online at Amazon by clicking here or on the price which is $21.88  if you are an Amazon Prime member our shipping is free and should arrive in less than 3 days. I see they updated their shipping speed.

When yours arrive come back and let know how much you love yours as well and which color blanket you picked….they have: Black, Blue, Pink, Red, Grey, Rose Red, Dark Purple (mine), Flower Purple, and Mint Green (the next one I want to get).

*I did receive the blanket at a discount, no links are affiliate links. Views expressed are my own and no way swayed by any discount offered*

Gentleman’s Box

¬†Gentleman’s Box is the first subscription service to cater¬†exclusively to the modern gentlemen. Each month they honor a gentlemen from the past or the present and fill their boxes with 4-5 items, included with your monthly subscription is a subscription to GQ Magazine sent directly to your home separately from the box.

The June 2016 Gentleman’s Box including the following items:

~Sock Fancy Socks¬†($12) – Sean has another pair of socks from Sock Fancy and wears them often to school and church. The quality and texture is superior to just about any brand out there and the price is great. He loves the color, plus he didn’t have any green socks so that was a bonus!

~ Something Strong Striped Tie ($30) – Sean absolutely loves to wear ties whether it be to school, church, dinner or just going out with friends. As with the socks, he didn’t have a green tie, so the color and the¬†striped style was a nice bonus.

~ Harry’s Razor ($18) –¬†This is the first the Gentleman’s Box included a razor in their boxes and wow they chose wisely with Harry’s. This is not your dollar store blade and razor, this razor has weight and a slick handle. Harry’s makes their own blades and razors as well as accessories on their website which allows for their low prices.

~ Woodchuck USA Wooden Tie Clip ($30) -Nothing looks more sharp on a nice looking tie than a fancy looking Tie Clip and Woodchuck USA has quality, real stainless steel and real wood face tie bars/clips. We have received products by Woodchuck USA before in previous months boxes and were really impressed, this month no different. He wore it yesterday and received 3 complements.

~ La Fresh Sunscreen Wipes ($1.66) – Here in North Carolina our temps already reaching the upper 90’s before the heat index. Sunscreen is a must, these wipes have SPF 30 and are guaranteed to protect you in the sun for hours. Sean used his wipes when he went to beach, he said they weren’t greasy and just as stated didn’t irritate his skin. Easy to apply.

What an stylish box for our Dapper Sean, this month’s box from Gentleman’s Box had a total of $97.66 which included the GQ magazine & the wipes that they didn’t include in their total.

Sean’s video review:

Worldly Box Monthly Subscription

I never thought I would find myself anxiously waiting each month for a monthly subscription box that was jewelry themed, that was until I found Worldly Box on Instagram. Worldly Box allows you customize your box by filling out a short survey when subscribing, telling them what you like and prefer. They also support Fair Trade, which I am very passionate about, as well as Empowering Women Globally. I have been getting Worldly Box for months now, and sadly due to my other site crashing I lost all my other reviews/post for my previous months, but I wanted to catch you up on my June box. Here are a few previous favorite items.

I am never without one of their pieces of jewelry or items on me daily.

Here is my February box from Worldly Box

WorldyBox is $19.99 per month or for 3 months it is $50.97

Since each item I was not able to locate online and their are unique to each Country their is no finding out how much each item is, but I can tell you after months of getting WorldlyBox you are definitely more than $20’s worth each month. Each month you receive at least 5 items and Mary who curates my box lol knows my taste in jewelry better than my husband does!!! I have never been disappointed in any item or box!

This month all items came from Peru. I love the Llama keychains which are made from sustainable llama fur as well as the beautiful mix stones necklace.

Milk Bottle Craft

Being able to sit down, relax and enjoy my night crafting is a night well spent! I try to escape to my craft room or take over a section by the recliner in the living room and craft while as a family we watch a movie or America’s Got Talent. Two weeks ago I painted three mason jars and loved how they turned out. So when I saw these cute mini milk bottles at Walmart in their craft section I just I had to paint them! I only ended using 3 (4th one broke during hand drying it)

cow 5

After I cleaned them inside and out…and hand dried them, well 3 ūüėČ it was time to pick the colors. I chose to do 1 in black & white, 1 in a light pink with dark pink spots and the last one in a light tan with a darker shade for the spots. I love when Michaels Craft Store has their 20% off your entire order AND 40% one item plus their paints were on sale, perfect timing! These are the colors I chose..¬† Craft Smart White, Black, Apple Barrel Cameo Pink, Paradise Pink, Toasted Marshmallow, and Little Mocha

cow 4

Each bottle received a bottom coat, which I would let completely dry before applying the second coat. Once the second was on the spots could then be outlined and filled in. You can have fun with this steps, by where you place them and the size. Each spot will also need two coats and be sure to let each coat of the paint dry completely before apply the next one.

milk bottles

The final couple steps after all the drying will be the protective step and the decorating step. You may want to put a clear gloss over your bottles to help protect it from chips and give it a smooth feeling and look. Krylon makes a Colormaster Crystal Clear Gloss Spray Acrylic that goes on clear and dries clear. Once that is dried you can decorate the top, I did not paint or spray the top due to what I am using it for…

cow 3cow 2

They make a fun addition to our coffee tables. I love how the spots bounced off the light bottom coat on each of them. I am a huge fan and lover of paper straws so of course that is what we are using to hold just some of them, lol I have 3 other containers holding more…I told I love paper straws!!!

What crafts do you enjoy doing? And have you painted these mini dairy/milk bottles, if so what color scheme did you use & what are you using them for? cow

A visit to Cupcake War’s winner Happy Cakes Cupcakery

Flip on The Food Network and you probably will catch one of their number one rated shows Cupcake Wars and if you are like my girls and I you know why. Not only is it about CUPCAKES, it has bakers racing and competing against each other to win the ultimate prize being named ‘Cupcake Wars Winner’ plus a check for $10,000. During the show you see 3 sets of teams race to make their best cupcakes¬†under one theme and using ingredients some might never think to even use ever, let alone in a cupcake! And if the pressure of having to compete isn’t frightening enough there is that looming time frame you have to get all your cupcakes done, decorated¬†and plated under. ¬†Oh did I forget to mention they have to taste DELICOUS!!!!

Angela Diaz and her daughter-in-law, Kaylee were selected to compete in a mother/daughter episode in June and ‚ÄúSeason 9: Episode 6: LA Bridal Bash‚ÄĚ aired on the Food Network on October 12, 2013. My girls and I watched that episode as it aired and we were all pulling for them to win! They were are mother/daughter team from Morehead City, NC just 45 minutes away from us — how could we not be home on the edge of our seats rooting for them!! When they won my girls, Faith & Megan were jumping up and down not only did their pick win but someone from Eastern North Carolina won!

Happy Cakes 6

The big day came when I took the girls for the first time to visit HappyCakes Cupcakery and as soon I turned the corner and they saw the huge sign that read “WINNERS OF CUPCAKE WARS” they knew where we were and my SUV began to shake with excitement! As soon as I put the car in park Megan and Faith were on the sidewalk jumping up and down waiting for me LOL. Megan, who is the BIGGEST Food Network Star fan was starstruck and couldn’t contain her excitement. Before even entering the shop she was recalling the episode with her younger sister. When we opened the door to their Cupcake ‘Heaven’ Shop you are hit with the smells of fresh baked ingredients and my favorite their HUGE (I swear they are the size of my head) Cookies!

happy cakes

HappyCakes Cupcakery¬†prides themselves on what they DON’T put¬†their cupcakes! Yes, I worded that correctly…what they DON’T add. Once you taste their cupcakes you will never want¬†or even like store bought or box cupcakes every again, the reason why is because¬†of¬†all¬†the¬†artificial colors, flavors and ingredients they don’t add. The sign behind Megan¬†‘Butter Makes Everything Better’ is¬†just one hint¬†to the standards they have¬†for all their bake goods. As stated on their HappyCakes Cupcakery Facebook page

We make deliciously moist, made-from-scratch cupcakes. We do not use food coloring or packaged products when they can be avoided. We feature homemade caramel, fruit fillings, Swiss meringue buttercreams, and so much more.
happy cakes 2
Pictured above is their Vanilla Bean (vanilla bean cake, vanilla bean buttercream), Chocolate Mousse (chocolate cake, milk chocolate mousse filling, vanilla buttercream, chocolate shavings), and Strawberry Cream (vanilla cake, fresh strawberry buttercream). My favorite is there HUGE Chocolate Chip cookies. Fresh baked daily just so happen that when we arrived the were still warm (insert heart eyes emjoi)!!
happy cakes 7
Actual size! Be sure to pair your cupcake or cookie with their fresh brewed coffee.
Of course we couldn’t leave without a sneak peak and finger swoop! Faith double checking her cupcake was still here there CHECK!
happy cakes 4
Oh did you notice the missing cupcake too? Your mission is to go to Happycakes Cupcakery and walk out without eating one of their daily delicious cupcakes! It isn’t easy!
When storing your cupcake at home their boxes have instructions to help keep them fresh longer. Since I had the cookie, which took me two days to finish…yes it is that HUGE, I stored my in non other than a glass cupcake stand!
Happy Cakes 5
Very fitting for this Vanilla Bean Cupcake! Stayed fresh for 3 days, though the icing didn’t last…as in it didn’t last my every once in a while finger swoop! ;)!
And what better way to celebrate turning 17 years old than a Chocolate Indulgence (chocolate cake, rich chocolate buttercream, chocolate shavings) Cupcake
happy cakes 8

happy cakes 9¬†¬† I am not sure that cupcake lasted 5 minutes before it was just the wrapper and crumbs! It was a surprise trip to the Happycakes Cupcakery Shop in Morehead City, NC. and the girls thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and every moment of eating their Famous Cupcakes. It was a surprise when we brought back¬† enough for their 3 brothers and dad to celebrate Eric’s 17th birthday, and needless to say everyone picked their favorite and tried each others and there were non left over! Kevin had the Tiramisu (Irish cream cake with Irish cream and espresso glaze, Irish cream mascarpone buttercream, cocoa dusting), Sean tried the Cookie Dough (vanilla cake, homemade chocolate chip cookie dough center, vanilla buttercream with mini chocolate chips, homemade mini chocolate chip cookie topping), and dad/George tried the Chocolate Strawberry (chocolate cake, fresh strawberry buttercream). Tummy’s were full and happy!

If you are in our area be sure to make the trip to Happycakes Cupcakery, if your not in the area….what are you waiting here is the address quick put it in Google Maps and make the trip!
